Sanjeev Lakhanpal, Partner, CIO

Mr Lakhanpal is a founding Partner of Horizon3 Investment Management LLP with responsibilities for trading, investment management and research for Horizon.

He has over 30 years of experience in the investment management sector and hedge fund industry. He has a 17+ year track record as a fund manager. Mr Lakhanpal has a great depth of knowledge from macro-economic affairs to the detailed mechanics of how trading systems and how markets function. This knowledge is applied in the design of the Horizon systematic trading model and continues to help evolve the model through research into new trading methodologies. Mr Lakhanpal started his career at AHL in 1992 (now part of the Man GLG one of the world’s largest listed hedge funds). Mr Lakhanpal started as a data engineer and quickly rose to the role of Trading Manager. As Trading Manager, he had responsibility for the execution of fund trades where assets under management were in excess of $10bio for multiple hedge funds simultaneously. Subsequently, Mr Lakhanpal held a number of high-level trading positions last of which was Senior Trader at Beach Capital Management Limited trading assets of over $1bn. In 2005, Mr Lakhanpal and Dr Paul Netherwood founded Beach Horizon, a systematic fund management firm trading futures and FX, which has a continuous 17+ year track record that he still manages today.

Mr Lakhanpal has a BSc(Hons) in Physics from King’s College London and an MSc in Finance from Brunel University.
